Recently, our farm program participants made their own wood-fired oven pizza and reviewed it like true critics. A few reviews from our students:

"It was GOATEDDDDDDD!"
"I made a cute heart-shaped pizza... because I was feeling lovely."
"Five stars."

10/10, no notes. 🍕💚

Rocks can tell us about the passage of time — literally. The farm program welcomed Williams College Emeritus Professor David Dethier to the river for a hands-on geology lesson: quartz, granite, geode-cracking, and a 40-million-year-old fossil. Did you know there's marble 400 feet beneath the farm? Neither did we, until this week. 🪨✨

Say hello to next year's shiitake mushrooms! 🍄 This week our Farm Crew learned how to inoculate hardwood logs with shiitake spores from mushroom specialist Michael del Rio of The Farm School. Drilling, spawning, and sealing each hole with wax — science and farming in one afternoon.

Bonus: the group also brought in a 204-lb harvest of cucumbers, squash, and zucchini this week. 🥒

"A zoodle a day keeps the doctor away!" 🥒 That's a direct quote from one of our students this week — and it kind of sums up the whole group. They try everything, work together, and look out for one another.

Some highlights of our farm program thus far:
inoculating mushroom logs, a visit from a geologist (complete with a 40-million-year-old fossil!), working with architect Vanessa Till Hooper on an outdoor kitchen design project, and getting soaked making pizza in our own wood-fired oven on field day. 🍕

The Cooking Crew fed the whole farm this week! 🥯 On the menu: kohlrabi fries, kale chips, garlic scape pesto, sourdough bagels and pretzels, homemade pasta, and the fan-favorite: butterscotch brownies (the line for seconds said it all 😋).

Every student gets a turn in the kitchen — from farm-fresh snacks to sourdough baking to sweet treats.

Meet our Building Crew! 🛠️ This summer they're taking on a HUGE project — replacing the old staircase connecting the parking area to the farm. Week one started with filling sand/rock bags from the riverbed (in torrential rain, no less), finishing the changing rooms, and clearing brush to prep the staircase site.

Problem-solving, teamwork, and a little bit of mud. That's the job. 💪

We asked our students: "What's your tip for having a fun day in the rain at the farm?" 🌧️

Their answers say it all:

"Work hard, don't give up."
"Still have fun even though it's raining."
"Power through it."
"Hang out with your friends."

That's the Greenagers spirit. ☔💚

Week one in the books! 🚜💚 Our Greenagers spent five days last week at Many Forks Farm building friendships, harvesting in the rain (65 lbs of squash, 120 lbs of kohlrabi!), and writing a community agreement they lived by all week.

Between garden crew, building crew, cooking, river exploration, and bunny care, these kids showed up for each other and for the work — heat, rain, and all. Impressive young people, every one of them. 🐰🌧️🥾

During the school year, students benefit from structure, access to trusted adults, and consistent peer connection. Over the summer, those supports often shift or fall away.

For students navigating anxiety or big emotions, even short-term support over the summer can make a real difference when the school year starts back up.

Through our partnership with Cartwheel, students and families have access to:
✨ Appointments within days
✨ Virtual sessions that fit summer schedules
✨ Free for families with Medicaid; in-network with most insurance
